Courmayeur, Italy

389819_10150702293683009_9227605_nSnow trip…. my first time boarding in Italy! We were all very excited, we flew out on Boxing day for New Year!

Courmayeur is located on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, western Europe’s highest mountain.   Spectacular scenery with 14 4,000m+ mountain peaks. Resort altitude of 1225m, with 100km of pistes from 1210m to 2755m!

Stunning little town, very pretty and atmospheric with lots of good shops, restaurants and bars.

Après-ski is awesome too! On the moutain385402_10150702271243009_1342695075_n we ate at Christiania it was super busy but we always managed to get the best seats in the house!  Right at the back on the balcony – the views whilst having lunch and a few beers is amazing!

We stayed at Albergo dei Camosci. The hotel is quaint, really lovely and very Italian.  A small family run hotel about 10 minutes walk from the centre of Courmayeur and about 20 minute walk to the ski lift. Luigi the owner was fantastic and very accommodating nothing was too much trouble. The hotel provides transport down to the gondola everyday and collects you too!  Fantastic service!  The food was amazing and the wine was great too, reasonably priced!  The rooms are a little small but let’s face it we are not there to stay in the room we are their to snowboard/ski!

We stayed for New Years Eve, the hotel put389910_10150702284503009_776381819_n on a fabulous evening – a 7 course gala dinner and a great party afterwards!  Highly recommend this place!

The town was very pretty, Italian elegance with stunning little bars and eateries!  There was lots for everyone, if you wanted to party or just dine queitly there is something for everyone.

386423_10150702296693009_1150550197_nThe snow was fantastic, it was that heavy that one of the days I got completely stuck at one of the highest lifts – the snow was that deep I couldn’t board.  I had to learn a new technique and quick otherwise I was gonna be stuck up there forever – much to everyone’s amusement!  On thick snow you have to lean back a little, the complete opposite to how you are taught!  I got down, eventually!

The slopes were great and caters for all levels of skier/boarder, offering the most variety and scope to intermediates. Beginners also have plenty to do, and experts you will love the off-piste terrain.  Courmayeur lift pass also covers Chamonix!  The last run down each evening was pretty horrid though, be warned if you are tired go down a little earlier as it is very busy and you need to be on your game to get down safely!  I had a few bumps but I 392287_10150702262893009_1803971146_nwas still a beginner, the more experienced people I was with didn’t have quite the same challenge!

Each year we had hoodies printed, this year it was Ness’s turn, she went all out and had a logo designed too!

Fabulous holiday with fantastic friends!
